Christina Alva is a pro when it comes to solving problems. Christina is a lead data analytics developer for a large think-tank company in the Washington DC area where she analyzes big data on behalf of clients based in the health-care industry. She leads multi-million-dollar programming projects and, as a supervisor, assists in the hiring and developing of new recruits. With more than 15 years of work experience, Christina continues to balance multiple priorities, including but not limited to clarifying deliverables to meet client needs, completing ad hoc queries, overseeing developers and producing management and client status updates and reports.
Christina is a native Texas girl. In her spare time, she likes tutoring students on mathematics, mentoring her peers on succeeding in the workplace, ballroom dancing and song writing. Christina is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Amazing Books, LLC, an author and a career coach. She is the co-author of Beyond the Job Description: How to Succeed in the Workplace, a great source for inside career tips that covers everything from preparing for the interview to attending company meetings. Christina wrote Beyond the Job Description and the accompanying workbook to help professionals avoid costly mistakes in the workplace. She teaches workshops on writing effective resumes and mastering the interview process. Christina is also a board member of Coders Who Travel, a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise up bridge builders to provide requisite programming skills to individuals in under-reached regions around the world, and an owner of an anti-aging and wellness company.
Christina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Texas State University, and a Master of Science degree in Applied Industrial Mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Christina is the proud mother of one son, an avid gamer, and enjoys helping professionals succeed in the workplace.
